I have to say that it is never a dull moment with Jonathan around. I am so blessed to have him in my life. Aside from the glamor of being a pilot, and the amazing talent and intelligence he posesses, I am still in awe of who God is daily helping him to become--a man after His purposes.
So with that said... another weekend together in a nutshell:
Friday, Jonathan flew in to Tyler and I made him, Mandy, and Sarah (and Caleb came later) dinner. By far one of the best meals I think I've ever made. Chicken Cordon Bleu, Corn Casserole Bake, Baked Potatoes, and for dessert: Oreo Pudding Pie. I could eat that for the rest of my life. Mmm....
Afterwards, the four of us (Caleb went home) went back to the airport for a little flying. Both Mandy and Sarah had expressed interest in going flying, and Jonathan graciously found the time to make that happen, and give them a once-in-a-lifetime memory. We flew around Tyler and Lindale as the sun set (although it was cloudy) for about a half hour, took a few little dips for a thrill (lots of screaming and laughing), and then did a touch and go landing at the airport before our final landing. Mandy got to push a button, and both of them looked like kids on Christmas morning. It was great!
Afterwards, Mandy, Jonathan, and I went to Casey's house and played Monopoly with Alan and Caleb. Caleb killed us, I was the first to go out. :(
Saturday, Jonathan and I took our first flight alone together to a friend's wedding outside of Houston. We took a little side trip to buy me some shoes because I had packed two right shoes by accident. Thank God for airport courtesy cars. The ceremony was very nice, and the small reception was pretty. Then we went back to the airport with hope to fly on down to Galveston for a few hours on the beach at sunset.
Once we got out on the runway, a storm cloud with heavy rain and strong winds came in. We decided it was safer to wait it out. An hour and a half of sitting in the pilot's lounge, then we were finally on our way. And, here's the cool thing:
I got to fly the plane!!! I flew almost the whole hour down to Galveston. No kidding. It was incredible. Something I never would have seen myself doing in my lifetime. Thank you, Jonathan, for making that memory. He said I did very well, and comparable with his flight students. Wow.
So, we spent a few hours in Galveston, ate McAlister's deli on the beach at night, played tag on a playground, and then flew back to Tyler.
Spent Sunday at church, doing some shopping, went swimming, and then had dinner with Caleb and Megan in the evening.
And as always, a lot of quality conversation, a deeper understanding of each other, and a whole lot of lost sleep that was well worth sacrificing!
Life doesn't get much better than this. He is becoming my best friend, we love being with each other no matter what we're doing. "Life wouldn't be nearly as interesting if we didn't have to improvise!"
Now I'm off to the real world of working!
